thanks so much  for doing this, I basically just want to know how did you get started with fashion, like what made you want to pursue that field. Also, if you have any influences like someone you know that kinda got you into it. If you would have any tips or inspiring stories for someone trying to do the same thing. And then just where are you now with it, are you still working toward a line, or in the business.
thanks again

umm well ive always been into art and had a certain personal style that i guess people pointed out in me? was addicted to watching fashion television from a young age.. no real influences but the art of fashion itself.. just always been creative and loved that it was wearable art.. i always loved wearing stuff that created a lot of attention whether it was good or bad.. i guess something to start a conversation.. inspiring stories? i guess start early, know what your doing, and work really really hard cuz its a tough world in that industry.. i was originally going to t.o for fashion art but then chickened out.. which was a good thing because then i found my real passion which is helping people and now i work in social work. so no im not still working on a line or business.. but stil an avid fashion television watcher and fashion admirer.
hope this helps!!

thanks again,
basically just what exactly do you do, your employement history in this field, what type of education did how
have to take, had you always known this is what you wanted to do, and what inspired you to go into fashion
(like a specific designer or something like that). And any tips you have for someone trying to pursue a career in fashion.

Hi Shelby,

Here’s a quick run-down of what I hope you’re looking for.
I’m a technical designer for Joe Fresh, for the toddler boy and big boy size ranges, encompassing all commodities.

A technical designer is someone who puts together the fit/construction/design of the garment. I work on a web based
program creating tech packs and sketches. I review fit samples and see garments into production while communicating
daily with overseas vendors.
I went to Ryerson for fashion design and have a degree in design after completing 4 years. My first job out of Ryerson was
a technical design position for Abercrombie & Fitch in Ohio at their head office. Same type of job as I currently have, except
I worked on women’s knit product. My second job is my Joe Fresh position.
I have wanted to work in fashion since I was a little kid. I knew that Karl was head design at Chanel when I was 8. I guess you
could say, it’s a job and an obsession :) I have always been inspired by the classic designers. The Balenciagas, the Chanels and
most recently Lanvin. I was going to go into architecture, but I figured I liked fashion so much, I might as well get paid to do
something I enjoy.
As for tips on pursuing a career in fashion, I would say to learn the basics. Take art-based courses in school, learn about
textiles, learn how to sew, and figure out if it’s something you really want to do. It’s not an easy industry to be in, especially
in Canada. Try to get as much practical experience as early on as you can. Make contacts wherever you go, even if they’re
based in retail or at small design firms. Everything will help you along the way.

douchebags :)

So, apparently Jason Wu is EXTREMELY busy. He said in an interview recently that he would love to meet Michelle Obama (who has been wearing his designs since inauguration night) but he hasn’t been able to make the time. Working on his pre-fall collection and moving to a new studio space I suppose he is busy, but I highly doubt your actually too busy to meet the First Lady of the United States of America. Especially since she has been promoting his business all over the media.

Douchebags Continues

An Australian club night has banned “metrosexuals” in an attempt to reduce fighting. But a look at the dress code — no Ed Hardy shirts, no popped collars — suggests they’re actually banning douchebags.

will nee warmers be the new fashion trend?

Filed under Uncategorized by chel_bee on 23-10-2009

Designer Vanessa Bruno showed at Paris fashion week, and she had some…interesting accesories. knee_warmers

Is it just me, or does any one even understand? First off, if your nee is cold, wouldn’t your thigh(above your nee) and calf(below your nee) be cold too? Also, they’re made of lace! How is that keeping anything warm!? This is rediculous! I’m loving the dresses though! And the white shoes are beautiful. What do you guys think? comment!

Hey everyone, hope everyone is having an awesome morning…actually, I hope you havn’t started your day yet because it’s too early in my opinion. I was just checking up on my usual web-sites and realised that The GAP is getting alot of action lately. While watching the new “September issue” documentary I saw that Thakoon was working with them through VOGUE. I think it’s really awesome that the more popular designers are starting to branch out to the more affordable retail stores. This morning I saw that Stella McCartney just released a new line for GAP Kids, and it’s so cute! (http://nymag.com/daily/fashion/2009/10/stella_mccartneys_adorable_gap.html) agreed? deffinetly. I love when kids clothes are just like little adult clothes. I find that the JoeFresh clothes are like that too. (JoeFresh=Love). I’ve heard recently that the Olsen twins are also starting up a new line for JCPenny, which is awesome, especially for them, it shows that they WANT to bring beautiful clothes to everyone, becuase they don’t NEED to do that, by any means. It is greatly appreciated by the way!

I’m impressed!

I have got to say, Brantford Ontario, I am impressed. Comming from a small town, I had expectations of how people would be dressed here, and now, I am pleasantly suprised. Walking around town, Im noticing alot more people that are extremely well dressed.  Fall is my favorite season, and I think its your too! Everyone has really risen to the occasion.

For this fall, were seeing nee-high boots, LOTS of leather, and to contrast with that, alot of feminine touches too, like broaches and ruffled and bowed blouses. A big trend were seeing again is rips; in jeans and in leggings and in tights, the distressed look is back in full force. With the cold weather were going to need sweaters and jackets; chunky knits and military style jackets are really popular right now. With the holiday season fast approaching, dresses are a big concern, one sholder is ALL the rage. Also, see through tops, over another one ofcourse, are everywhere.

Hope this helped, Ill be sure to keep posting often!
